Landing Your First Technical Communication Job

18Nov10

On November 18th, 2010 I gave a presentation to the ECU English Students titled, “Landing Your First Technical Communication Job: 60 Tips in 60 Minutes.” In the 45-minute talk, I gave tips on how to:

  • Find tech writing jobs
  • Write resumes that work for hiring managers
  • Network locally, globally, and using social media
  • Update skills and keep up with technology for free or cheap

The presentation was recorded, but I don’t know if I will get that link yet. But for now, here’s a link to the presentation. Enjoy!

Thank you to all who contributed advice for the students. You can read those comments here.
